We cross paths throughout the day
Dodging left
Sprinting right
Passing off kids
Like footballs
As we rush from place to place
Trying to reach some unattainable goal
Night descends and I realize
I’ve missed your face
The crinkle of your eyes
When you smile gently at me
In quieter moments
Yet never in a million years
Would I give up
The life we’ve created together
The chaos that ensued
When two lives morphed into four
Hold my hand
Take me in your arms
Let our feet
Dance lightly
Now that the work is done

Seems like the years before children were but a dream…
