Little One Stirring
I hear you in there
Oh little one
Stirring beneath
Your blankets
My heart
Sends my feet
Padding softly
Into the darkness
Of your room
Leaning over
I nuzzle
Your warm cheek
With my lips
Leaving baby kisses there
Run my fingers
Gently
Over your head
Enjoying the feel
Of your soft hair
Rub your cheek
Then withdraw
Love flows outward
Breathe it back in
You still slumber
I shall not be
The one to wake you
Though longing
Begs me to
Reluctantly
I sneak out in stealth
Anticipating
Our morning reunion

It is such a relief to tuck the kids into their beds each night. And although parenting is an exhausting task, it is still a joy to see their sleepy faces every morning.
