A Bad Case of Jabber Jaw

I was overcome by
A bad case of jabber jaw tonight

I found myself unable
To disconnect my voice
From the stream of content
Pouring from my loose lips

Oh to have found
A giant clamp
Or super glue
To meld my mouth shut
And save face

None too soon
I exit the party in utter humiliation
And slink to the car in shame

How I pray these strangers
Won’t remember me next we meet
