Tokens

I dropped
A Valentine’s Day card
Into my shopping cart
At the grocery store

Such a small token
For the way
I feel
About my husband

If I could
Choose
One word to describe
The depth of my emotion
It would be
Thankful

Thankful for his
Creativity
Compassion
Patience
Kind heart
The list goes on

Why God
Saw fit to pair us
Is beyond
My understanding

I will not
Question my luck
But be
Thankful
for that too
