Note to Self
Best to follow
That gut feeling
And throw those
Smelly hot dogs away
Don’t ignore
Common sense
By making
A pot of beanie weanies
With those
Smelly rotten hot dogs
Then scoop
The rancid mixture
Into two thermoses
With the intent
Of packing them
Into lunch boxes
Because
As you wave
A cheery goodbye
To the children
You love most
You will know
Deep down
At a disturbing level
That you
Sent them off
to school
With smelly rotten hot dogs
Packed away
Inside their
lunch boxes
And soon
Guilt will eat at you
As surely as
Those smelly rotten hot dogs
Will eat away at the lining
Of their vulnerable little stomachs
Consumed by
Nightmarish imaginings
You will find yourself
Speeding to school
Sweating in misery
Until you can
Throw those
Smelly hot dogs away
Like you
Should have done
In the first place
