Big satisfying hugs
From a small body
Large words
In conversations
Beyond your years
Such a joy

Now
A woman
Beautiful
Smart
The little girl
Still gleaming bright
Behind blue eyes

A future
Waiting breathlessly
To be harnessed
Manipulated
By your capable hands

I feel
Proud
Hopeful for you success
But lonely
Longing to be near
Closer
