There is a blue moon
In the darkening sky tonight
Awesome and powerful
It is

I call out your name
But you have
Scampered off down the road
Chasing after
The little she dog
That got away

I imagine her
Joyfully skirting
Your outstretched hands
Giving in
To primal instincts
Lying dormant within her

Humming a tune
From an old movie
I’ve seen a million times
I tilt my head back
And howl at the moon
