Aside

The Seeds We Sow

Hateful words are sown
Like seeds in spring
Sprouting into weeds
And wrecking my lawn

This person’s religion
That person’s gender identity
The race of your neighbor
Down the street
Or the family on welfare
That you’re certain
Is scamming the system

I ask you to reflect
On your reasoning
Is it HARMFUL to society
In some undeniable way
Or are you merely OFFENDED
By their choices
That which makes them human

Too much time is wasted
Stirring pots of resentment
Adding pinches of judgement here
Sprinkling bits of ignorance there
All the while the world
Crumbles around us
Like dry bread
