Soon after saying our goodbyes
I glance in the rear view mirror
Hoping to catch
One last glimpse
Before you are gone
You buzz around in my brain
Throughout the day
Visiting the many flowers
Growing in the garden
Of my thoughts
Time drips by
Then quickens
And suddenly you are
In the car
With me again
My eyes soften
Drinking you in
Hi Mama
Hi Baby
I missed you today
I wish I could have carried you
Around in my pocket
All day long
We laugh
But my heart was lonely
And wouldn’t have minded
In the least
Having you that close to it
If such a thing were possible
