Vacuum
It is
A great burden
Sharing
The weight
Of another’s
Addiction
Easy
To be sucked into
The vacuum
Black
Hungry
Unreasonable
Not knowing
Where
Your fault ends
The other begins
Sinuous
Troubling
Even so
The addict must
Do the work
No other can
Walk that road
In their stead
Beside them
Yes
Be strong
Give freely the heart
Fickle the wallet
Seek support
Forge friendships
Be not alone
Live
Laugh
Love

Addiction ruins life, stifles joy, leaving a black stain on the soul. Grieving innocence lost, wondering who is to blame, will bear no fruit. It is not for us to look behind, but ahead, ever looking to the horizon with heart and hope. Yes, the addict will stumble, tripping on ghosts that trail behind. Do not fear the future, for the ghosts are what shape the living. Be not ashamed, but embrace that which is you, forge a different path and be prosperous in spirit. Live.Laugh.Love.
